Anti-pattern
The anti-pattern: a discipline splits into rival interpretations of the same method, and practitioners spend their energy defending a camp instead of solving the problem.
One method, several incompatible orthodoxies. A discipline matures, gains a following, and then splits — into interpretations, certifications, tool-specific dialects and camps, each convinced it holds the correct reading. Practitioners stop asking what does this problem need and start asking what does my school permit. The cost is not the disagreement. It is that the disagreement becomes the work.
